How to Make a Homemade Pizza

Pizza is one of the world’s most popular comfort foods, loved for its crispy crust, rich tomato sauce, melted cheese, and endless topping possibilities. Follow this simple recipe to make a delicious homemade pizza from scratch.
Ingredients
For the Pizza Dough
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet (7 g) instant yeast
- ¾ cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Toppings
- ½ cup pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Pepperoni slices
- Mushroom slices
- Onion slices
- Bell pepper slices
- Black olives (optional)
- Dried oregano
- Chili flakes (optional)
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Add the warm water and olive oil, then mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Step 2: Prepare the Oven
Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats to achieve a crispier crust.
Step 3: Shape the Pizza
Punch down the risen dough and place it on a lightly floured surface. Roll or stretch it into a circle about 30 cm (12 inches) in diameter. Transfer the dough to a pizza pan or baking tray lined with baking paper.
Step 4: Add the Toppings
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then add your chosen toppings such as pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, and olives. Finish with a light sprinkle of dried oregano.
Step 5: Bake the Pizza
Bake the pizza for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbling.
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy
Remove the pizza from the oven and allow it to cool for 2–3 minutes. Slice it into equal pieces and serve while it’s hot. Enjoy it on its own or with your favorite dipping sauce.
Tips
- Use fresh mozzarella for a creamier texture and richer flavor.
- Avoid adding too many toppings, as they can make the crust soggy.
- Brush the crust with garlic butter after baking for extra flavor.
- Let the dough rise fully to create a light, airy crust.
- Feel free to experiment with different toppings, cheeses, and sauces to create your own signature pizza.
Enjoy your homemade pizza!
